Following the 'Looking for ideas for new player ranks' thread, we need to create new templates for Moderator and Mayor.
The rank that'll replace Merchant will be the full member rank. Perhaps one month should go by before a member can apply for Moderator. What is certain already, is that a player must be a member before applying for both Moderator and Mayor.
So looking at the current application templates, what can/should we change?
All ideas are welcome and encouraged.
Please share them in this thread, I look forward to reading them.
Ranks will no longer be purchased; players will be automatically promoted based on their playtime. AFK will have a much sooner kick time to make up for this, as well as the time before a player is put into AFK mode.
You are most likely here to apply for moderator. Please create an account on our forums, click "New Thread" in the Rank Applications section, and copy/paste the following template into the textbox that appears. Answer these questions honestly, and please respect your fellow players in the process.
Why do you want to be a moderator?
What do you think is required of a moderator?
Have you played at least 80 hours? (this is the mininum. We do not suggest applying at this time. Use the command /played in-game to check your playtime)
What do you enjoy doing on the server, and do you think this experience could be made better by becoming a moderator?
Anything we should know about? This includes skills that could benefit the server, and potential time restrictions.
Have you met and talked to at least three staffmembers? Your application relies on getting the approval of three admins, so meeting the staff could really help.
Your friend just got banned with the consent of multiple players and staffmembers. What do you do?
If you are confirmed, do you swear not to be (willingly) inactive for more than two-three months? We understand you have a life outside of Darkspin, but abandoning the server will not garner you any sympathy.
“What passes for hip cynical transcendence of sentiment is really some kind of fear of being really human, since to be really human [...] is probably to be unavoidably sentimental and naïve and goo-prone and generally pathetic.” --David Foster Wallace, Infinite Jest
I really like some of those questions.
I don't understand:
"Answer these questions honestly, and please respect your fellow players in the process."
and
"Have you played at least 80 hours? (this is the mininum. We do not suggest applying at this time. Use the command /played in-game to check your playtime)"

You must have played 120 hours in order to apply for moderator. (120 is the minimum. We do not suggest applying if you do not have 120 hours+ also, Use the command /played in-game to check your playtime.)

Do you swear to never abuse your power in any revengeful, mean, or unnecessary way?
Regarding play time: Since we are heading into the age of time oriented ranks, I think that the time required to become Mod should be raised, simply because, people would buy merchant after 7 hours on the server, and then say things such as: Wow, I would be such a good mod, or Wow, I really wanna make a town for mayor. People crave rank progression, and therefore giving time oriented ranks, will allow people to play in order to become the things that they want to get.
