Ahoy
I'd like to propose a bit of a revamp of our current hierarchy.
To start with, until we have a proper town system set up again (Asyr), I don't like the idea of having new Mayor's; I'd like to keep the ones we have and leave it at that till Obsidia is all but forgotten dust. We'll try not to spend too much extra time on Asyr, but our main issue is waiting for plugins to fix themselves. Fortunately, we have more and more stepping up with ideas for builds. I plan to release Asyr unfinished, but with enough content to be worthwhile.
Anyway, back to the thread.
The title of Citizen is silly because it can only logically be assigned to someone who joins a town. That is easy... and doesn't really constitute extra permissions. Not yet anyway.
Merchant is even more silly... it appears to limit the role of the player to someone who makes shops. It doesn't at all appear to be a higher rank than Citizen. The only extra permissions are:
- chestshop.shop.create
- essentials.back.ondeath
- essentials.signs.color
- essentials.me
Note that /me is now merchant only
We're still working on a whole new system with many more player ranks. But for now, I'd like to clean up our mess and keep the server changing, rather than do everything in the background, as we have been, and introduce it all at once.
So this is what I propose.
I was thinking we need to be clearer about staff ranks. Lets start with those.
Mod
ArchMod
Admin
ArchAdmin
So we leave all Mod's as they are but promote one to ArchMod, who has the ability to demote other mods. There will only be one. This ArchMod is then the next in line for Admin.
ArchAdmin is the same rank as those with custom titles and Miniority except Major and I, but I'll probably use the title too. I've been trying to come up with a more obvious title for my position but Owner and Co-Owner is boring and Symposiarch is too elitist =S
Alternative to Arch could be Lead
ie, LeadMod and LeadAdmin
But I like to be different.
I'd like to change the requirements a bit for these new ranks, but we'll discuss that more later.
But wait! Where did Artisan go?
I'm somewhat in love with the title of Artisan and Mason, but I don't see how either of them speak "staff rank". If this new structure is set in place, Artisan will be like Mason, only with WorldEdit. I like to have honorable ranks for those who impress me creatively. And of course, Artisan would still have to be highly respected.
There aren't any I can think of who'd have Artisan at this point, other than Niagra, whom I've already given WorldEdit anyway. But speaking of, he hasn't been active for a while.
Any ideas for both Mason and Artisan ranks, please shoot away; I'm listening.
I'm also thinking of a cool new prefix for those who beat _TheComposer_'s parkour :D
As for player ranks...
In order of hierarcy:
Peanut
Neophyte (synonym of novice... ugly? better idea?)
Member (I can't find any decent synonyms of this.. ideas?)
Using BeardAch, Peanut will be promoted to Neophyte after so many days, and then the same for Member. No more of this bullshit purchasing of rank. A shorter AFK kick will be introduced for obvious reasons.
