Haven't been on the server in months but I still hear about everything from Mikey. Let me be honest, it's very sad to see a fellow admin break, now you know why I left minecraft entirely. However, I'm having a hard time believing you actually expected your ring of admins to work together and do this maturely when half of them don't give a flying fuck (Maybe it's changed since I was around)
The reality is that Asyr became a 2 man project, and while it would be immensely impressive if it had been finished, is simply way too much for 2 guys. Stress and pressure build up over time, especially when you have to manage a server while building up plugins and a brand new world almost from scratch. You shot high, impressively high I might add, and that comes from a dreamer myself. However, you really need not do everything alone.
An Admin's job is just that, to administrate. You then have a ring of Moderators to help you with that job. Such and so forth. The biggest problem I've seen with the way this server has been handled, is the communication. (I can edit this out if it's too much to post in public) but your admin chat was full of people talking about other games, and socializing about accomplishments and releases. Very, and when I say very I'm undercutting this hugely, rarely did I ever see people talk about the server itself, how to improve it, or even talking about how to use different plugins.
There is no real training for moderators to get to know plugins better and be of more use (Though I know you had this in the works) and even more so most are too lazy to research and figure it out for themselves. As far as I know there is no "admin" section in the forums where you can all post ideas and up/down vote them. Moreso, has it ever been asked of those in the server themselves how they would like to see the transfer to Asyr go? I mean doing it all at once is crazy, but it could have easily been split into 10 or 20 phases and you would have seen actual progress and better judge how to carry on.
Like you said with this Towny plugin. Was it ever thought to post it on the forums first and get opinions on it? It's considerably a hard plugin to learn when you don't know anything about what you're doing (or at least it used to be) I honestly feel the forums should have been used a lot more for communications and the mod team should be doing much more than they do.
Enough of my rambling though, if you're gonna leave it's just gonna happen. Everybody has their time and I entirely understand how it is. This shit is tough, nobody understands, and everybody wants better. You can't please the people. You have to please yourself and let the people that enjoy it flock.
This server likely will die with you gone, but it was always my go to server and I had a ton of great memories. So just know that you did a wonderful job all around, and you really need to quit listening so much to unbacked criticism. If a sheep runs off the cliff, the herd will follow.
